Description of Pictures: Literary Hill BookFest
Celebrating Books and Authors on Capitol Hill
WE’RE BACK IN THE REAL WORLD!
SEE US AT EASTERN MARKET ON MAY 1, 2022
Come join us from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. for our first in-person event since 2019, as we celebrate the vibrant literary culture of Capitol Hill at our “home” in D.C.’s historic Eastern Market! Meet some of your favorite authors of fiction, history, memoir, poetry, children’s literature, politics, mystery and more. Help us compose this year’s community-penned poem, practice your origami skills, participate in our timely panel discussions, or just sit back and read your new stack of autographed books in a comfy bean bag chair. (Pssst…Don’t miss our poetry open mic at Tunnicliff’s right after the BookFest.)

Want to star in a podcast? Drop by the Speakers’ Tent at 11:15 and you could do just that! Kitty Felde, author of The Fina Mendoza Mysteries series, will cast kids and adults to play roles from her latest book, State of the Union, for a future bonus episode of The Fina Mendoza Mysteries podcast. No acting experience is required. Kitty, an award-winning public radio journalist and former talk show host, will direct and tape short scenes. Too shy for the stage? You can still join in the fun — be part of the audience and cheer on our volunteer stars!

Bigger photos? To save server space, the full-sized versions of these images have either not been loaded to the server or have been removed from the server. (Only some pages are loaded with full-sized images and those usually get removed after three months.)
I still have them though. If you want me to email them to you, please send an email to guthrie.bruce@gmail.com
and I can email them to you, or, depending on the number of images, just repost the page again will the full-sized images.

2022 photos: This year included major setbacks -- including Putin's invasion of Ukraine and the Supreme Court imposing the evangelical version of sharia law -- but also some steps forward like the results of the midterms.
This website had its 20th anniversary in August, 2022.
Equipment this year: I continued to use my Fuji XS-1 cameras but, depending on the event, I also used a Nikon D7000.
Trips this year:
(February) a visit to see Dad and Dixie in Asheville, NC with some other members of my family,
(July) a trip out west for the return of San Diego Comic-Con, and
(October) a long weekend in New York to cover New York Comic-Con.
Number of photos taken this year: about 386,000, up 2020 and 2021 levels but still way below pre-pandemic levels.
