COSTBE_210601_01.JPG: Costco Wholesale Face Mask Policy In accordance with CDC guidance and state and local regulations, members and guests who are fully vaccinated* may enter Costco without a face mask or face shield. Proof of vaccination is not required, except where required by law. Face coverings will still be required in some close contact situations in healthcare settings, including Pharmacy, Optical, Hearing Aid. * People are considered fully vaccinated 2 weeks after their second dose in a 2-dose series, or 2 weeks after a single-dose vaccine.
2. COSTBE_210611_02.JPG: Like most other Costcos, they had resumed in-store dining but some of the signage was still behind. THe one on the drink dispenser says: Attention If you would like a refill * See a FOOD COURT employee for a New Cup at No Charge * Please Dispose of Your Used Cup Thank You
3. COSTBE_210611_03.JPG: Another sign that needed to be replaced now that in-store dining was back. ... We have temporarily limited our menu. Take Out Only. Available Items: * Hot dog * Soda * Whole Cheese Pizza * Whole Pepperoni Pizza [Oddly, they don't mention pizza slices. ]
4. COSTBE_210824_07.JPG: Toilet paper was totally wiped out for some reason.

Costco Wholesale Corporation (NASDAQ: COST) is the largest membership warehouse club chain in the world based on sales volume, headquartered in Issaquah, Washington, United States, with its flagship warehouse in nearby Seattle. Costco's Canadian operations are based near Ottawa, Ontario, and Vancouver, British Columbia.

History:

Founded by James Sinegal and Jeffrey Brotman, Costco opened its first warehouse in Seattle, Washington on September 15, 1983. Sinegal had started in retailing by working for Sol Price at both FedMart and Price Club. Brotman, an attorney from an old Seattle retailing family, had also been involved in retailing from an early age.

In 1993, Costco merged with Price Club. Costco’s business model and size were similar to those of Price Club, which was founded by Sol and Robert Price in 1976 in San Diego, California. Thus, the combined company, PriceCostco, was effectively double the size of each of its parents. Just after the merger, PriceCostco had 206 locations generating $16 billion in annual sales. PriceCostco was initially led by executives from both companies, but then Sol and his son Robert Price founded Price Enterprises and left in 1994.

In 1997, the company changed its name to Costco Wholesale.

Costco today:

The main competitor in the membership warehouse space is Sam's Club. Although Sam's Club has more warehouses than Costco, Costco has higher total sales volume. Costco employs about 132,000 full- and part-time employees, including seasonal workers, and for fiscal year 2006, ended on September 3, 2006, the company's store sales totaled $60.2 billion of which $1.1 billion was net profit. Costco is #32 on the Fortune 500.

2021 photos: This year, which started with former child president's attempted coup and the continuation of the COVID-19 pandemic, gradually got better. Trips this year: (May, October) After getting fully vaccinated, I made two trips down to Asheville, NC to visit my dad and his wife Dixie, and (mid-July) I made a quick trip up to Stockbridge, MA to see the Norman Rockwell Museum again as well as Daniel Chester French's place @ Chesterwood. Equipment this year: I continued to use my Fuji XS-1 cameras but, depending on the event, I also used a Nikon D7000. Number of photos taken this year: about 283,000, up slightly from 2020 levels but still really low.
