Specific picture descriptions: Photos above with "i" icons next to the bracketed sequence numbers (e.g. "[1] ") are described as follows:
AMCULT_210524_07.JPG: Designer gown, around 2018
Actor Constance Wu wore this gown in the 2018 film Crazy Rich Asians, a landmark for Asian and Asian American representation on the big screen. Featuring Hollywood's first all-Asian cast in 25 years, the film tells a story of generational and class conflict. Crazy Rich Asians earned praise for offering multidimensional characters in contrast to usual stereotypical depictions of Asian characters as exotic, villainous, or otherwise one-note figures.
This designer dress by Marchesa has been made for a tall runway model, so costumers altered it for the 5'4" Wu by removing its long sleeves; they didn't, however, shorten the hem. Only the top of the dress was visible in the film's climactic wedding scene.
AMCULT_210906_04.JPG: On a Clear Day, with easel, palette knife, and brushes, 1980s
Bob Ross hosted the television series The Joy of Painting from 1982 to 1994. At this homemade easel, Ross used these brushes to demonstrate simple steps and easy oil painting techniques, teaching viewers how to create beautiful landscapes filled with "happy little trees." Ross felt that everyone has artistic talent: "Believe that you can do it, 'cause you CAN do it."
Fifteen years after Ross's death, his laid-back approach and classic catchphrases -- "we don't make mistakes, we have happy accidents" -- continue to connect to millions across the world. New generations find inspiration in his "chill" demeanor and positive message.

Description of Subject Matter: Ruby Slippers and American Culture Displays
October 19, 2018 – Indefinitely
Dorothy's Ruby Slippers from The Wizard of Oz return to view as one of eight installations displaying American history through culture, entertainment, and the arts. Other artifacts on view include a New York Yankee Stadium ticket booth, jazz and classical instruments, a video game wall, and cases for new acquisitions. A stained glass window from the Victor Company’s headquarters in Camden, New Jersey, featuring “Nipper,” the iconic dog listening to his master’s recorded voice, is the culture floor’s landmark object.

2021 photos: This year, which started with former child president's attempted coup and the continuation of the COVID-19 pandemic, gradually got better.
Trips this year:
(May, October) After getting fully vaccinated, I made two trips down to Asheville, NC to visit my dad and his wife Dixie, and
(mid-July) I made a quick trip up to Stockbridge, MA to see the Norman Rockwell Museum again as well as Daniel Chester French's place @ Chesterwood.
Equipment this year: I continued to use my Fuji XS-1 cameras but, depending on the event, I also used a Nikon D7000.
Number of photos taken this year: about 283,000, up slightly from 2020 levels but still really low.
