DC -- Event: Field of Flags for Biden inauguration @ National Mall:

Description of Pictures: Because of concerns over additional militant seditious actions by Trump sheep, the Biden inauguration was largely devoid of public participation. To mark this, a Field of Flags was installed on the National Mall representing Americans who could not attend Biden's inauguration. Rouhgly 191,500 US flags of various sizes representing each of the different states and the country as a whole were installed. The flags were removed on January 21.
Some later images were of the flags from this that I acquired for the Smithsonian collection.

Specific picture descriptions: Photos above with "i" icons next to the bracketed sequence numbers (e.g. "[1] ") are described as follows:
FLAGBI_210121_107.JPG: Maureen Cohen Harrington
FLAGBI_210121_170.JPG: Periodically they would hand some of the flags out to onlookers. They said the bulk of them would be distributed to states to distribute to their schools.
FLAGBI_210121_226.JPG: The Biden inaugural Field of Flags, which represented all the people who weren't allowed to attend the inauguration because of worries over more seditious activity by Trumplodytes, is cleared off the Mall as the city starts to reopen. The 4-year long national nightmare is finally ending.
FLAGBI_210121_297.JPG: National Guard troops hoping to collect some of the flags.

Bigger photos? To save server space, the full-sized versions of these images have either not been loaded to the server or have been removed from the server. (Only some pages are loaded with full-sized images and those usually get removed after three months.)
I still have them though. If you want me to email them to you, please send an email to guthrie.bruce@gmail.com
and I can email them to you, or, depending on the number of images, just repost the page again will the full-sized images.
2021 photos: This year was filled with hope. Yes, the COVID-19 pandemic is still with us but it was hoped that restoring sanity to the White House. the rapid vaccine role-out, and a government that finally cared would put things back to normal again. But the force was strong in the evil anti-vaxxer movement and the virus variants made quick use of that so we're still dealing with this crap. Plus the continued impact of the Trump putsch attempt... Sigh.
Trips this year:
after getting fully vaccinated, I made a trip down to Asheville, NC in May to visit my dad and his wife Dixie and returned again in early October,
in mid-July, I made a quick trip up to Stockbridge, MA to see the Norman Rockwell Museum again as well as Daniel Chester French's place @ Chesterwood.
Number of photos taken this year: about 283,000, slightly up from 2020 but still really low.
