In America: Remember
INAMER_210914_020.JPG: PVC pipe structure from Ruppert Landscaping was used to properly place the flags. There are 9 vertical pieces, each with 8 or so marks so 72 flags can be put down. Then the structure is flipped and another 72 can be put down.
INAMER_210914_055.JPG: You can see indications of how many flags would be in each rectangle. The standard one was to hold 5,300 flags.

Each of these white flags honors someone in America who has died because of COVID-19.
To dedicate a flag for someone special whom you have lost, please visit a reception tent.
Because many people across the nation will be unable to visit this exhibition in person, the artist has teams with Esri Inc to present this art in the digital sphere concurrently at InAmericaFlags.org
At this website, people across the country will be able to view your flag and join us in honoring your loved one lost to COVID-19.
PLEASE NOTE:
Dedicated flags will become part of the art installation. The artist reserves the right to donate all or a portion of this art to the Smithsonian or other archiving institutions.
INAMER_210916_128.JPG: In America: Remember.
The immensity of our loss as a nation lies before you.
Each flag honors someone who has died from COVID-19.
This art first appeared near the DC Armory in Fall, 2020. By the time that exhibition closed on November 30th, the US death toll was over 267,000. Most of the flags dedicated last fall have been added here in Section 00. The others are currently on display at the Smithsonian National Museum of American History.
We welcome you to experience this art, with its 3.8 miles of pathways and numerous benches for reflection.

In memory of Ulus "Mr. U" Crowder – Honoring a Veteran's Legacy
Our father, Mr. U, contracted COVID-19 while living in a memory care assisted living community. Restrictions prevented me from my daily visits for 12 weeks. After moving him to the hospital for aggressive treatment he seemed to respond well. But on day 5 of admission he peacefully transitioned. As his caregiver for 18 years, it was devastating for our family not to be by his side in his final moments. We will forever cherish the memories and honor his legacy. He was a veteran who served our country for 29 years and was so full of charisma and charm. MSG Crowder survived the Vietnam War and Alzheimer's but lost his final battle to COVID-19.

2021 photos: This year was filled with hope. Yes, the COVID-19 pandemic is still with us but it was hoped that restoring sanity to the White House. the rapid vaccine role-out, and a government that finally cared would put things back to normal again. But the force was strong in the evil anti-vaxxer movement and the virus variants made quick use of that so we're still dealing with this crap. Plus the continued impact of the Trump putsch attempt... Sigh.
Trips this year:
(May, October) After getting fully vaccinated, I made two trips down to Asheville, NC to visit my dad and his wife Dixie, and
(mid-July) I made a quick trip up to Stockbridge, MA to see the Norman Rockwell Museum again as well as Daniel Chester French's place @ Chesterwood.
Number of photos taken this year: about 283,000, slightly up from 2020 but still really low.
