I love well-behaved spiders! They are, in fact, how most people find my site. Unfortunately, my network has a limited bandwidth and pictures take up bandwidth. Spiders ask for lots and lots of pages and chew up lots and lots of bandwidth which slows things down considerably for regular folk. To counter this, you'll see all the text on the page but the images are being suppressed. Also, some system options like merges are being blocked for you.

1. HURRAH_191211_04.JPG: Hurrah! Karol Murlak with Danielle Begnaud, Katarzyna Michnowska, and Marzena Krupa 2019 • Stainless steel The Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Washington, D.C., the Golden Triangle Business Improvement District, and the Polish Cultural Institute present Hurrah!, a celebration of the hundredth anniversary of the diplomatic relations between Poland and the United States. Hurrah!, an urban musical instrument, evokes feelings of fun, friendship, and love through music and play. Hurrah! kicks off the Golden Triangle BID's international art programming on Penn West, Pennsylvania Avenue west of the White House. This project was created by a team of Polish and American designers led by Polish designer and Pratt Institute professor Karol Murlak. Hurrah! was first exhibited in New York City's Times Square as part of NYCxDESIGN 2019 and a partnership between the Polish Cultural Institute in NYC, the Embassy of the Republic of Poland, and the Pratt Institute. Brooklyn Stainless Steel and Evan Eisman Company also supported this project.
2. HURRAH_191211_15.JPG: How do you Hurrah!? Hurrah! works like a large musical instrument -- a type of upright xylophone. Strike the steel tubes with the mallet to play a traditional Polish birthday and anniversary song, "Sto lat," wishing you a hundred years of happy and prosperous life. When played in order, the distance between the tubes mirrors the distance between the musical notes in the original song. Make sure you single along! Try playing it faster, slower, backwards and forwards, adjusting the volume -- any way you like! In celebration of the hundredth anniversary of diplomatic relations between Poland and the US, we want to wish 'sto lat' to you -- may you live (at least) a hundred years in health, happiness and prosperity.
Bigger photos? To save server space, the full-sized versions of these images have either not been loaded to the server or have been removed from the server. (Only some pages are loaded with full-sized images and those usually get removed after three months.) I still have them though.
