Description of Pictures: Exhibit: Reconciling City And Nature By Architect Mario Schjetnan
August 8 - October 12, 2019 at the Mexican Cultural Institute
The exhibition, Reconciling City and Nature, by Mario Schjetnan, architect and landscape architect, and his team Grupo de Diseño Urbano (based in Mexico City), presents the possibility to conceive -through science, art, and design- a different form of constructing our human habitat; establishing new paradigms for the present and future of our cities. Through more than 42 years in continuous practice and theory, based on the precept, "design with nature," and with a -ferocious and perseverant determination- they have been constructing an ample corpus of created or transformed sites and places, where a balance between nature and structures, habitability and resilience, past and present are evident.
The exhibit presents, through extensive large-format photographs, models, sketches, and original drawings, iconic projects executed in Mexico and the USA, such as the Xochimilco Ecological Park; the Rehabilitation of Chapultepec Park; Bicentennial Park in the former Refinery of Azcapotzalco, and La Mexicana Park, all in Mexico City. The projects developed in the USA are: San Pedro Creek Cultural Park in San Antonio, Texas; and the public garden: "Small Tribute to Immigrant Workers," in Sonoma, California.

Bigger photos? To save server space, the full-sized versions of these images have either not been loaded to the server or have been removed from the server. (Only some pages are loaded with full-sized images and those usually get removed after three months.)
I still have them though. If you want me to email them to you, please send an email to guthrie.bruce@gmail.com
and I can email them to you, or, depending on the number of images, just repost the page again will the full-sized images.
