Description of Pictures: INTO THE CANYON
D.C. Premiere
In 2016, filmmaker/photographer Peter McBride and writer Kevin Fedarko set out on a 750-mile journey on foot through the entire length of the Grand Canyon. More people have stood on the moon than have accomplished this task. Their quest was more than just an endurance test -- it was also a way to draw attention to the unprecedented threats facing one of our most revered landscapes. Throughout their passage, McBride and Fedarko encountered an astonishingly diverse and powerful landscape, rich in history, which is now facing perhaps the gravest crisis in the 100-year history of the Grand Canyon National Park. This film tells the story of extreme physical hardship that stretches the bonds of friendship and meditates on the timeless beauty of this sacred place.
Directed by Peter McBride

Post-screening discussion feat. Peter McBride (Director), Amanda Pollak (Producer), & Tyler Walk (Editor). Moderated by Sadie Quarrier (Senior Photo Editor at National Geographic). Note: Peter McBride was not present.

2019 photos: Equipment this year: I continued to use my Fuji XS-1 cameras but, depending on the event, I also used a Nikon D7000.
Trips this year:
a four-day jaunt to Massachusetts (Boston, Stockbridge, and Springfield) to experience rain in another state,
Asheville, NC to visit Dad and his wife Dixie,
three trips to New York City (including the United Nations, Flushing, and the New York Comic-Con), and
my 14th consecutive San Diego Comic-Con (including sites in Utah).
That's it so far!
