Poe and Van Gogh
One book is a striking graphic adaptation of Edgar Allen Poe's best-known works, the other an award-winning story of brotherly love between Vincent Van Gogh and his brother, Theo, while illuminating the time they lived in.
Deborah Heiligman
Deborah Heiligman is the author of 31 books for children and teens. “Vincent and Theo: The Van Gogh Brothers” received six starred reviews, won The Boston Globe-Horn Book Award in non-fiction, the SCBWI Golden Kite Award and is a finalist for the YALSA Excellence in Non-Fiction Award. Her other books include “Charles and Emma: The Darwin’s Leap of Faith,” “They Boy Who Loved Math: The Improbable Life of Paul Erdos,” “Intentions” and “From Caterpillar to Butterfly.” Deborah lives in New York City with her husband and Ketzie the dog. Their grown sons drop by frequently.
Gareth Hinds
Gareth Hinds is known for his critically-acclaimed graphic novels based on the classics, including “Beowulf” (which Publisher’s Weekly called a “mixed-media gem”), “King Lear” (Booklist named it one of the Top 10 graphic novels for teens), “The Merchant of Venice” (Kirkus called it “the standard that all others will strive to meet” for Shakespeare adaptation), “The Odyssey” (which appeared on 10 “best of 2010” lists), “Romeo and Juliet” and “Macbeth.” His most recent book is “POE: Stories and Poems,” in which he revisits seven of Poe’s most-beloved short works, bringing to life the darkness and psychological horror of Poe’s work in graphic form.
Gareth’s illustrations have appeared in such diverse venues as the Society of Illustrators, the New York Historical Society, and more than a dozen published video games.

I love well-behaved spiders! They are, in fact, how most people find my site. Unfortunately, my network has a limited bandwidth and pictures take up bandwidth. Spiders ask for lots and lots of pages and chew up lots and lots of bandwidth which slows things down considerably for regular folk. To counter this, you'll see all the text on the page but the images are being suppressed. Also, some system options like merges are being blocked for you.
Note: Permission is NOT granted for spiders, robots, etc to use the site for AI-generation purposes. I'm sure you're thrilled by your ability to make revenue from my work but there's nothing in that for my human users or for me.
If you are in fact human, please email me at guthrie.bruce@gmail.com and I can check if your designation was made in error. Given your number of hits, that's unlikely but what the hell.

Bigger photos? To save server space, the full-sized versions of these images have either not been loaded to the server or have been removed from the server. (Only some pages are loaded with full-sized images and those usually get removed after three months.)
I still have them though. If you want me to email them to you, please send an email to guthrie.bruce@gmail.com
and I can email them to you, or, depending on the number of images, just repost the page again will the full-sized images.
