Description of Pictures: The Marines and Tet: The Battle That Changed the Vietnam War
To mark the opening of the Newseum’s newest exhibit, “The Marines and Tet: The Battle That Changed the Vietnam War,” the Newseum looks back at the 1968 Battle of Huê´, the bloodiest single battle of the Tet Offensive and a turning point that changed the course of the Vietnam War.
This new exhibit features 20 large-format photographs and 10 tactile versions of John Olson’s original photographs taken at the battle with touch-activated sensors that provide audio interviews that allow visually impaired visitors to experience the images through touch and sound. Artifacts from the Marines in Huê´ will also be displayed.
Program panelists include John Olson, a former photographer with Stars and Stripes, whose photographs are featured in the exhibit, and veterans A.B. Grantham, Myron Harrington and Robert Thompson who fought in the battle.
Mark Bowden, best-selling author of the book “Huê´ 1968: A Turning Point of the American War in Vietnam,” will moderate the conversation.

Help? The Medium (Email) links are for screen viewing and emailing. You'll want bigger sizes for printing. [Click here for additional help]
Bigger photos? To save server space, the full-sized versions of these images have either not been loaded to the server or have been removed from the server. (Only some pages are loaded with full-sized images and those usually get removed after three months.)
I still have them though. If you want me to email them to you, please send an email to guthrie.bruce@gmail.com
and I can email them to you, or, depending on the number of images, just repost the page again will the full-sized images.
