Since its founding in 1842 in St. Petersburg, Russia, Faberge’s creations have entranced the world with their beauty and intricacy. Thanks to the recent opening of Russian archives along with technological advancements, there has been a flurry of discoveries related to Faberge’s most famous pieces, the Imperial Eggs. Join us on Thursday, May 10 to step inside the world of Faberge to discuss these recent discoveries.

Description of Subject Matter: The Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars calls itself the living, national memorial to President Wilson established by Congress in 1968 and headquartered in Washington, D.C. It is a nonpartisan institution, supported by public and private funds, engaged in the study of national and world affairs. The Center establishes and maintains a lively, neutral forum for free and informed dialogue.

The mission of the Center is to commemorate the ideals and concerns of Woodrow Wilson by: providing a link between the world of ideas and the world of policy; and fostering research, study, discussion, and collaboration among a full spectrum of individuals concerned with policy and scholarship in national and world affairs.

Throughout the year, they present free lunchtime and other policy discussions. They are affiliated with the Smithsonian Institution but they are also independent. Their home page is at http://www.wilsoncenter.org/.

2018 photos: Equipment this year: I continued to use my Fuji XS-1 cameras but, depending on the event, I also used a Nikon D7000. Overnight trips this year: (February) Greenville, NC for a Civil War Trust conference,, (May/June) Newport News, VA for another CWT conference, (July) my 13th consecutive trip to San Diego Comic-Con (including sites in Reno, Sacramento, San Francisco, and Los Angeles), (August twice, October) three trips to New York City (including New York Comic-Con), and (September) Chicago, IL for my CWT swansong event.. Number of photos taken this year: about 535,000.
