Description of Pictures: Contemporary Artists in Conversation with History: 1968:
April 4 marks the fiftieth anniversary of the assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., a defining moment in American history. How do issues of racial equality and civil rights reverberate through the practice of artists working today? Find out from artists Lava Thomas, Alfredo Jaar, and Sam Gilliam as they discuss the echoes of history within contemporary culture in the context of social justice. Panel is moderated by SAAM Deputy Chief Curator E. Carmen Ramos.
