Scott Simon, host of NPR’s “Weekend Edition Saturday,” talks about his new book, “My Cubs: A Love Story,” which chronicles his long history as a fan of the Chicago Cubs.
The book takes readers back to Simon’s adolescence in Chicago as a die-hard fan and tells the story of the relationship between the team and the neighborhood and city, and how the condition of being a Cubs fan has both charmed and haunted the lives of so many fans.
The book also looks at how the 2016 World Series win by the Cubs transcended sports to become an underdog narrative for the whole nation.
