Tanya Lee Stone is an award-winning author of picture books, nonfiction and young adult books who teaches writing at Champlain College. Awards for her children’s nonfiction work include the NAACP Image Award for “Courage Has No Color,” the Robert F. Silbert Medal for “Almost Astronauts: 13 Women Who Dared to Dream” and the Golden Kite for “The Good, the Bad and the Barbie.” She has written more than 100 books, and her articles and reviews have appeared in School Library Journal, Horn Book and The New York Times. Her book “Girl Rising: Changing the World One Girl at a Time” (Wendy Lamb) is inspired by and expands upon the documentary of the same name about girls’ access to education across the world.
