Description of Pictures: America Now! Innovation in Art:
Come explore how artists are using technology to propel their work! Join:
* Digital paint pioneer Jeremy Sutton as he paints on an iPad, with the image projected on a large screen using motion capture technology. He paints to the beats of electro-swing band Good Co. and DJ Eliazar.

* Wear an Oculus Rift, a virtual reality headset for 3D gaming, to explore Total Cinema 360’s films, immerse yourself in Earthborn Interactive’s games, or be transported into Greg Aring’s artworks.
* Play the interactive game Starry Heavens, created by Italian architect Nathalie Pozzi and video game designer Eric Zimmerman, under a floating, ribbon-like installation designed for the museum’s Kogod Courtyard.
America Now! is a three-partner collaboration among the Smithsonian American Art Museum, National Portrait Gallery, and National Museum of American History. Generous sponsorship is provided by Robert and Arlene Kogod Family Foundation.

Bigger photos? To save space on the server and because the modern camera images are so large, photos larger than 640x480 have not been loaded on this page. If you need the bigger sizes of selected photos, email me and I can email them back to you or I can re-load this page temporarily with the bigger versions restored.
2015 photos: Equipment this year: I mostly used my Fuji XS-1 camera but, depending on the event, I also used a Nikon D7000.
I retired from the US Census Bureau in god-forsaken Suitland, Maryland on my 58th birthday in May. Yee ha!
Trips this year:
a quick trip to Florida.
two Civil War Trust conferences (Raleigh, NC and Richmond, VA), and
my 10th consecutive San Diego Comic-Con trip (including Los Angeles).
Ego Strokes: Carolyn Cerbin used a Kevin Costner photo in her USA Today article. Miss DC pictures were used a few times in the Washington Post.
Number of photos taken this year: just over 550,000.
