Description of Pictures: Gregg Jones is the author of "Last Stand at Khe Sanh: The U.S. Marines' Finest Hour in Vietnam" (Da Capo Press), which is his third non-fiction book. His other books include the critically acclaimed "Honor in the Dust: Theodore Roosevelt, War in the Philippines, and the Rise and Fall of America’s Imperial Dream" and "Red Revolution: Inside the Philippine Guerilla Movement." In his 3o years as a staff writer for the Los Angeles Times, Dallas Morning News and other publications, Missouri native Gregg Jones wrote about such diverse topics as war and reconstruction in Afghanistan, revolutionary upheaval in Southeast Asia, steroid abuse among Texas high school athletes and the historic recall of California governor Gray Davis. He has been a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize and the Gerald Loeb Award for Distinguished Business and Financial Journalism.

2014 photos: Trips this year:
three Civil War Trust conferences (Winchester, VA, Nashville, TN, and Atlanta, GA),
Michigan to visit mom in the hospice before she died and then a return trip after she died, and
my 9th consecutive San Diego Comic-Con trip (including Las Vegas, Reno, Carson City, Sacramento, Oakland, and Los Angeles).
Ego strokes: Paul Dickson used one of my photos as the author photo in his book "Aphorisms: Words Wrought by Writers".
Equipment this year: I mostly used my Fuji XS-1 camera but, depending on the event, I also used a Nikon D7000.
Number of photos taken this year: just over 470,000.
