PASTIS_140602_299.JPG: What are you watching?
The bullfighting channel... nothing but bullfighting 24 hours a day.
That's a lot of bull.
You never know what's gonna set that guy off.
PASTIS_140602_309.JPG: Will we still be friends when we're real old?
No.
Why not?
Because by that time, I will be very famous and will have left you far behind.
You mean.... I'll be... Garfunkeled?
Yes, and I will not be your bridge over troubled waters.
PASTIS_140602_320.JPG: What are you doing?
Listing my top ten priorities in life.
What are they?
"No. 1... be rich. No. 2... Be famous" ...
That's where I got stuck.
PASTIS_140602_324.JPG: Staci! Staci! Take me back! I don't want to live without my wife! And look! I'm even recreating that romantic scene from the movie 'Say Anything' for you.
But I don't hear any music.
That's because it's a recording of me reciting my favorite 'Pearls' pun strips.
It is so hard to woo her.
PASTIS_140602_364.JPG: Stephan Pastis's wife has left him. As a result, he has started dating again.
Listen.... I had a wonderful time tonight.
But I'm not sure we're a good fit.
What's wrong?
Well. don't take this the wrong way but you're kind of a worrier. And physically, you're not really my type.
What do you mean by that?
Well, no offense, but you're a little out-of-shape and your hair's a bit stringy.
Is that so? Anything else you'd like to add?
You have no nose.
Please don't draw on my face.
But it looks sooo much better.
PASTIS_140602_432.JPG: Where are you taking me?
Remember when the word 'stewardess' became 'flight attendant'?
Yeah.
And 'secretary' became 'administrative assistant'? And 'maid' became 'housekeeper'? And 'midget' became 'little person'?
Yeah. So?
So this is the guy who decides all that.
Behold! I am Willy, the word decider!
So how do you decide all that, Willy?
I dunno.
Well, that seems kind of stupid.
'Stupid' is out! 'Smartless' is in!
We should do something about Willy.
Don't be smartless.

2014 photos: Equipment this year: I mostly used my Fuji XS-1 camera but, depending on the event, I also used a Nikon D7000.
Trips this year:
three Civil War Trust conferences (Winchester, VA, Nashville, TN, and Atlanta, GA),
Michigan to visit mom in the hospice before she died and then a return trip after she died, and
my 9th consecutive San Diego Comic-Con trip (including Las Vegas, Reno, Carson City, Sacramento, Oakland, and Los Angeles).
Ego strokes: Paul Dickson used one of my photos as the author photo in his book "Aphorisms: Words Wrought by Writers".
Number of photos taken this year: just over 470,000.
