Description of Pictures: Special Advance Screening of "The Monuments Men":
The National Archives is pleased to host a special advance screening of the forthcoming film The Monuments Men on January 30, 2014, in the William G. McGowan Theater in Washington, DC.
Based on the true story of the greatest treasure hunt in history, The Monuments Men (2014; 118 minutes) is an action drama focusing on an unlikely World War II platoon who were tasked by FDR to rescue artistic masterpieces from Nazi thieves and return them to their rightful owners.
It would be an impossible mission: with the art trapped behind enemy lines and the German army under orders to destroy everything as the Reich fell, how could seven museum directors, curators and art historians -- all more familiar with Michelangelo than the M-1 -- possibly hope to succeed? The "Monuments Men," as they were called, found themselves in a race against time to avoid the destruction of 1,000 years of culture, and they would risk their lives to protect and defend mankind's greatest achievements. The film, which opens in theaters February 7, stars George Clooney, Matt Damon, Bill Murray, John Goodman, Jean Dujardin, Bob Balaban, Hugh Bonneville and Cate Blanchett.
The screening will be introduced by Robert Edsel, founder and president of the Monuments Men Foundation for the Preservation of Art, and author of The Monuments Men: Allied Heroes, Nazi Thieves and the Greatest Treasure Hunt in History. He will also take questions from the audience following the screening.
Presented in partnership with Columbia Pictures and in conjunction with the Featured Document display: Album of Artwork Looted by the Nazis, East Rotunda Gallery, January 23-February 20.

I love well-behaved spiders! They are, in fact, how most people find my site. Unfortunately, my network has a limited bandwidth and pictures take up bandwidth. Spiders ask for lots and lots of pages and chew up lots and lots of bandwidth which slows things down considerably for regular folk. To counter this, you'll see all the text on the page but the images are being suppressed. Also, some system options like merges are being blocked for you.
Note: Permission is NOT granted for spiders, robots, etc to use the site for AI-generation purposes. I'm sure you're thrilled by your ability to make revenue from my work but there's nothing in that for my human users or for me.
If you are in fact human, please email me at guthrie.bruce@gmail.com and I can check if your designation was made in error. Given your number of hits, that's unlikely but what the hell.

I still have them though. If you want me to email them to you, please send an email to guthrie.bruce@gmail.com
