Description of Pictures: The Pepco Edison Place Gallery in celebration of Black History Month is hosting “From the Ashes: Rebirth of the Human Spirit.” This unique exhibit kicks off with a reception that is open to the public on Saturday, Feb. 15, from 5 to 8 p.m. The exhibit runs through March 4.
Each participating artist interprets and expresses their own feelings and thoughts about “rebirth” and “human spirit”. The theme challenges the artist to express him or herself using their own media to bring to life their vision of the power of the human spirit, from the march into danger to the danger itself, to falling and rising up again if only in spirit.
The exhibiting artists in “From The Ashes, Rebirth of the Human Spirit” include Akili Ron Anderson, Anne Bouie, Daniel T. Brooking, Adjoa Burrowes, Elsa Gebreyesus, Carolyn Goodridge, Claudia Aziza, Gibson-Hunter, Hubert Jackson, Wayson Jones, Michael Platt, Russell Simmons and Alec Simpson.
The Edison Place Gallery is located at 702 Eighth Street, NW between G and H streets, one block west of the Verizon Center, and is open to the public Tuesday through Friday from noon to 4 p.m. with free admission.

Help? The Medium (Email) links are for screen viewing and emailing. You'll want bigger sizes for printing. [Click here for additional help]
Bigger photos? To save server space, the full-sized versions of these images have either not been loaded to the server or have been removed from the server. (Only some pages are loaded with full-sized images and those usually get removed after three months.)
I still have them though. If you want me to email them to you, please send an email to guthrie.bruce@gmail.com
and I can email them to you, or, depending on the number of images, just repost the page again will the full-sized images.

2014 photos: Equipment this year: I mostly used my Fuji XS-1 camera but, depending on the event, I also used a Nikon D7000.
Trips this year:
three Civil War Trust conferences (Winchester, VA, Nashville, TN, and Atlanta, GA),
Michigan to visit mom in the hospice before she died and then a return trip after she died, and
my 9th consecutive San Diego Comic-Con trip (including Las Vegas, Reno, Carson City, Sacramento, Oakland, and Los Angeles).
Ego strokes: Paul Dickson used one of my photos as the author photo in his book "Aphorisms: Words Wrought by Writers".
Number of photos taken this year: just over 470,000.
