Description of Pictures: Seas, Lakes & Bay: The Naval War of 1812. In this exhibit, you will see and learn that the War of 1812 had a tremendous impact on our country and in the development of the United States Navy. It is this legacy that we, the United States Naval Academy, celebrate with you on this bicentennial of the War.

NAMU12_130106_108.JPG: On June 3, 1813, the two American sloops GROWLER and EAGLE (Lieutenant Syndey Smith), while chasing three gunboats into the Sorel River at the head of Lake Champlain, were capture by a British land force which attacked from both sides of the narrow stream.
NAMU12_130106_121.JPG: A small American flotilla commanded by Commodore Chauncey chased the corvette ROYAL GEORGE into the Bay of Quante in Lake Ontario on November 8, 1812, and on the following day forced her to the protection of British batteries in Kingston Harbor.

2013 photos: Equipment this year: I mostly used my Fuji XS-1 camera but, depending on the event, I also used a Nikon D7000 and Nikon D600.
Trips this year:
three Civil War Trust conferences (Memphis, TN, Jackson, MS [to which I added a week to to visit sites in Mississippi, Louisiana, and Tennessee], and Richmond, VA), and
my 8th consecutive San Diego Comic-Con trip (including sites in Nevada and California).
Ego Strokes: Aviva Kempner used my photo of her as her author photo in Larry Ruttman's "American Jews & America's Game: Voices of a Growing Legacy in Baseball" book.
Number of photos taken this year: just over 570,000.
