Description of Pictures: FOTOWEEK DC (Two Part Exhibit)
Nov. 5 – 12, 2011
The FOTOWEEEK DC 2011 will include the National Geographic Image Collection exhibit at the Edison Place Art Gallery opening November 5, 2011. The exhibit presents the photography of B. Anthony Stewart and J. Baylor Roberts, two men that were part of the early days of documentary photography at one of the world’s most famous magazines. The two men shot with a purpose: They had a story to tell. The Stewart and Roberts’ exhibit will include black and white images covering the 1920s, 1930s and 1940s. Reproductions from the original magazine articles where the photos appeared may also be part of the exhibit.
The second part of the FOTOWEEEK DC 2011 exhibit will include work by the 30 photographers that are finalists of the Colors of Life 2011 International Photo Contest to benefit Every Child Matters. Prize winning images were selected by Ann Shumard, Curator of Photographs at the National Portrait Gallery. A coffee reception will accompany this part of the exhibit with participants, Michael Petit, President of Every Child Matters, Amalia Pizzardi, President of Colors of Life and Marco Nicoli, Sr., Knowledge Management Officer with the World Bank.

Help? The Medium (Email) links are for screen viewing and emailing. You'll want bigger sizes for printing. [Click here for additional help]
Bigger photos? To save server space, the full-sized versions of these images have either not been loaded to the server or have been removed from the server. (Only some pages are loaded with full-sized images and those usually get removed after three months.)
I still have them though. If you want me to email them to you, please send an email to guthrie.bruce@gmail.com
and I can email them to you, or, depending on the number of images, just repost the page again will the full-sized images.

2011 photos: Equipment this year: I mostly used the Fuji S100fs camera as well as two Nikon models -- the D90 and the new D7000. Mostly a toy, I also purchased a Fuji Real 3-D W3 camera, to try out 3-D photographs. I found it interesting although I don't see any real use for 3-D stills now. Given that many of the photos from the 1860s were in 3-D (including some of the more famous Civil War shots), it's odd to see it coming back.
Trips this year:
Civil War Trust conferences (Savannah, GA, Chattanooga, TN),
New Jersey over Memorial Day for my birthday (people never seem to visit New Jersey -- it's always just a pit stop on the way to New York. I thought I might as well spend a few days there. Despite some nice places, it still ended up a pit stop for me -- New York City was infinitely more interesting),
my 6th consecutive San Diego Comic-Con trip (including Las Vegas, Los Angeles, and San Francisco).
Ego strokes: Author photos that I took were used on two book jackets this year: Jason Emerson's book "The Dark Days of Abraham Lincoln's Widow As Revealed by Her Own Letters" and Dennis L. Noble's "The U.S. Coast Guard's War on Human Smuggling." I also had a photo of Jason Stelter published in the Washington Examiner and a picture of Miss DC, Ashley Boalch, published in the Washington Post.
Number of photos taken this year: just over 390,000.
