Personal -- Baltimore parking violation documentation:

- Description of Pictures: Why are there pictures of a parking sign here? Because while I was at the Baltimore Comic-Con, my car was towed. It was a Saturday and there were no weekend restrictions as these signs attest but the city took it anyway. (The signs a block south of where I was said there was no parking during stadium events. But not the block I was on.) $336 ($102 fine plus $234 in towing changes) plus a $14 taxi cab fare later, I had my car back but I needed to compile proof that they had towed my car improperly so I can waste time in court getting my money back. Unless there's some scam going on, either the cop or the tow-er should have noticed the sign right next to my car.
I prepared a written complaint about the fine, complete with pictures and maps and copies of everything, and sent it in. Quickly I got a response saying the city was investigating my complaint. I was encouraged. I shouldn't have been. Almost four months after the towing, I got a form letter back saying they had "investigated" my complaint and rejected it. They were wrong. They refused to admit it. And from the notice, it appears only the fine was being reviewed -- not the towing charges.
I realize not all police forces are dishonest. Baltimore's, however...

I love well-behaved spiders! They are, in fact, how most people find my site. Unfortunately, my network has a limited bandwidth and pictures take up bandwidth. Spiders ask for lots and lots of pages and chew up lots and lots of bandwidth which slows things down considerably for regular folk. To counter this, you'll see all the text on the page but the images are being suppressed. Also, some system options like merges are being blocked for you.
Note: Permission is NOT granted for spiders, robots, etc to use the site for AI-generation purposes. I'm sure you're thrilled by your ability to make revenue from my work but there's nothing in that for my human users or for me.
If you are in fact human, please email me at guthrie.bruce@gmail.com and I can check if your designation was made in error. Given your number of hits, that's unlikely but what the hell.

- Specific picture descriptions: Photos above with "i" icons next to the bracketed sequence numbers (e.g. "[1] ") are described as follows:
- PARK_100828_02.JPG: These two signs were photographed because the city had towed my car that evening. I was parked legitimately on a Saturday but they towed me anyway, pretending I was in a zone where towing was allowed on sports days. It cost me over $300 to get my car out. They said they were reviewing the charges but 3 months later, nothing.
- PARK_100829_05.JPG: More pictures taken to prove my case that I was parked legally. The white car was where I was parked the night before when the city towed my car.
- PARK_100829_06.JPG: The folks coming out of the house were there the previous night. They helped me find out where my car had been taken and helped me get a taxi to go there. They even thought about driving me to the impoundment lot but, realizing they were stinking drunk and the impoundment lot was a police facility, realized that would be a bad idea. They had never actually noticed that the area in front of them was legal public parking on weekends.
- Bigger photos? To save server space, the full-sized versions of these images have either not been loaded to the server or have been removed from the server. (Only some pages are loaded with full-sized images and those usually get removed after three months.)
I still have them though. If you want me to email them to you, please send an email to guthrie.bruce@gmail.com
and I can email them to you, or, depending on the number of images, just repost the page again will the full-sized images.

This means this site does not have SSL installed (the link is http:, not https:). That's bad if you're entering credit card numbers, passwords, or other personal information.
