Description of Pictures: Eyes in the Sky: Eisenhower, the CIA, and Cold War Aerial Espionage
He briefed presidents from Eisenhower through Ford. As a founder of the CIA’s National Photographic Interpretation Center, during the Cuban Missile Crisis he was a key member of the team that provided President Kennedy the evidence that the Soviets were installing missiles in Cuba. Dino Brugioni, retired senior analyst with the CIA and one of the world’s premier experts on aerial reconnaissance, reveals details of the previously untold story of President Eisenhower’s secret Cold War program to develop cutting-edge spy planes and satellites to gather intelligence. Told from his insider perspective, Brugioni sheds new light on this breakthrough program and one president’s efforts toward building an effective and technologically advanced intelligence capability.
The speaker was introduced by Peter Earnest, Executive Director, International Spy Museum.

Specific picture descriptions: Photos above with "i" icons next to the bracketed sequence numbers (e.g. "[1] ") are described as follows:
BRUGIO_100715_317.JPG: Soviet Long Range Bomber:
This photo shows a concentration of BISON jet bombers at a long-range aviation base in Central USSR. Along with photos of other long-range bases, it was used to disprove the mythical US-Soviet "bomber gap" of the late 1950s and early 1960s.
BRUGIO_100715_353.JPG: Soviet Space Launch Pad:
First launch pad constructed at the C... east of the Aral Sea in South Central USSR. From this pad, the Soviets launched the first artificial earth satellite, Sputnik I, in October 1957 and, in April 1961, Yuri Gagarin, the world's first Cosmonaut.

2010 photos: Equipment this year: I mostly used the Fuji S100fs until the third one broke and I started sending them back for repairs. Then I used either the Fuji S200EHX or the Nikon D90 until I got the S100fs ones repaired. At the end of the year I bought a Nikon D5000 but I returned it pretty quickly.
Trips this year:
Civil War Trust conferences (Lexington, KY and Nashville, TN), and
my 5th consecutive San Diego Comic-Con trip (including Los Angeles).
My office at the main Commerce Department building closed in October and I was shifted out to the Bureau of the Census in Suitland Maryland. It's good to have a job of course but that killed being able to see basically any cultural events during the day. There's basically nothing of interest that you can see around the Census building.
Number of photos taken this year: about 395,000..
