Description of Pictures: Breaking Down a Stonewall: 40 Years of LGBT Jewish Activism: On June 28, 1969, police raided a gay bar in New York City known as the Stonewall Inn. After years of police harassment, LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender) people decided to fight back. Often cited as the defining moment of the modern LGBT rights movement, that fateful night became known as the Stonewall riots. In honor of the 40th anniversary of the Stonewall riots, GLOE and Sixth & I present an insider’s look at several generations of activism from the LGBT Jewish community.
From Harvey Milk to Adrienne Rich, some of the most pioneering activists have shared a common Jewish background. In this moderated discussion, we’ll delve into the intersections between Jewish cultural heritage and activist work for and by the LGBT community.
Panelists include:
Frank Kameny, a leading figure in the gay rights movement who petitioned the U.S. Supreme Court with the first civil rights claim based on sexual orientation. He also coined the term “Gay is Good”;
Anne Kronenberg, Harvey Milk’s 1977 campaign manager and current Director of Policy and Planning at the San Francisco Department of Public Health;
Dr. Dana Beyer, the first transgender candidate for State Delegate in the Maryland House of Delegates, and current Vice President of Equality Maryland;
Robert Raben, former Principal Deputy Assistant Attorney General under the Clinton Administration, served as Counsel to Congressman Barney Frank, and is the founder and current President of The Raben Group, LLC; and others.
The panel will be moderated by Winnie Stachelberg, the Senior Vice President for External Affairs at the Center for American Progress. Prior to that role, she served as Vice President of the Human Rights Campaign Foundation, the nation's largest gay civil rights organization.
Co-sponsored with the Washington DCJCC’s Gay & Lesbian Outreach and Engagement (GLOE).

I still have them though. If you want me to email them to you, please send an email to guthrie.bruce@gmail.com
and I can email them to you, or, depending on the number of images, just repost the page again will the full-sized images.

2009 photos: Equipment this year: I mostly used the Fuji S100fs. I've also got a Nikon D90 and a newer Fuji -- the S200EHX -- both of which are nice but I still prefer the flexibility of the Fuji.
Trips this year:
Niagara Falls, NY,
New York City,
Civil War Trust conferences in Gettysburg, PA and Springfield, IL, and
my 4th consecutive San Diego Comic-Con trip (including Los Angeles, Yosemite, Death Valley, Kings Canyon, Joshua Tree, etc).
Ego strokes: I had a picture of a Lincoln-Obama cupcake sculpture published in Civil War Times and WUSA-9, the local CBS affiliate, ran a quick piece on me. A picture that I took at the annual Abraham Lincoln Symposium appeared in the National Archives' "Prologue" magazine. I became a volunteer with the Smithsonian American Art Museum.
Number of photos taken this year: 417,000.
