Description of Pictures: Seldom in our lifetime is an event of such high importance as to claim a prominent position in history. On January 20th, 2009 the inauguration of America’s 44th President is just such an occasion.
The All American Ball Inaugural Committee is proud to announce that the 4th All American Inaugural Ball takes place at one of the most prestigious venues in the nation’s capital – the Westin Washington DC City Center. “We have worked on several Inaugurals in the past, but this is by far the most exciting.” said Mike Harrigan of the AAB Inaugural Committee. “The electricity generated around this event, and this Ball, is unprecedented. We are so proud and so humbled just to be a part of it” he added.
The All American Inaugural Ball takes place on January 20th, 2009, the same night as many other Inaugural Balls but with one big difference. “Sixteen years ago we decided to make the Inaugural experience more exciting and more guest-friendly” said Harrigan. The All American Inaugural Ball tickets include food, and all drinks so that guests can spend this special evening celebrating in style.
The All American Inaugural Ball is a toast to American culture featuring multiple areas of entertainment and attractions. It also features a jumbo video screen with a simulcast of Inaugural activities.
The All American Inaugural Ball is also a tribute to various distinguished citizens, who we recognize for their outstanding and tireless work in their respective field of civic service. These Honored Guests – “All American Heroes” – represent the very best of America. They are the heart, soul and backbone of the great American spirit! One of these heroes, Congressman Mike McIntyre, of North Carolina (Legislator of the Year), will be recognized for his tremendous service to the country, and in particular for his advocacy on behalf of U.S. Veterans. Congressman McIntyre will also make the presentation of "All American Hero" awards to the other recipients, including:

AABAL2_090120_259.JPG: The green screen was being used to create combined images that would have each person with Obama and/or Biden. I had one done but it came out a bit weird -- I wanted to pretend my arm was on his shoulder but they superimposed my arm to be about an inch above his shoulder.
AABAL2_090120_287.JPG: This woman was wearing exactly the shade of green they had for the picture green screen backdrop. Despite that, her picture came out reasonably well.
Bigger photos? To save server space, the full-sized versions of these images have either not been loaded to the server or have been removed from the server. (Only some pages are loaded with full-sized images and those usually get removed after three months.)
I still have them though. If you want me to email them to you, please send an email to guthrie.bruce@gmail.com
and I can email them to you, or, depending on the number of images, just repost the page again will the full-sized images.

2009 photos: Equipment this year: I mostly used the Fuji S100fs. I've also got a Nikon D90 and a newer Fuji -- the S200EHX -- both of which are nice but I still prefer the flexibility of the Fuji.
Trips this year:
Niagara Falls, NY,
New York City,
Civil War Trust conferences in Gettysburg, PA and Springfield, IL, and
my 4th consecutive San Diego Comic-Con trip (including Los Angeles, Yosemite, Death Valley, Kings Canyon, Joshua Tree, etc).
Ego strokes: I had a picture of a Lincoln-Obama cupcake sculpture published in Civil War Times and WUSA-9, the local CBS affiliate, ran a quick piece on me. A picture that I took at the annual Abraham Lincoln Symposium appeared in the National Archives' "Prologue" magazine. I became a volunteer with the Smithsonian American Art Museum.
Number of photos taken this year: 417,000.
