- Description of Pictures: Patrick Buchanan, senior advisor to three former American presidents and candidate for President three times discusses his new book. "Where the Right Went Wrong: How Neoconservatives Subverted the Reagan Revolution and Hijacked the Bush Presidency," in which Buchanan claims the Bush Administration and Beltway neocons abandoned conservative principles, and how a tiny cabal hijacked U.S. foreign policy and may have ignited a "war of civilizations" with the Islamic world that will tie America down in this region for generations.
Some notes from his presentation:
He had four main areas where he thought W was totally out of step with the conservative ideology (which Buchanan feels that Barry Goldwater best typified):
- Illegal immigrants: We have to defend our borders against the invasion. Basically, they're from too close to actually consider themselves Americans. They can just drive home. Immigrants from Asia and Europe and Africa knew they were stuck here so they developed loyalty to country.
- Free trade vs sending jobs overseas: It's destroying our economy. One job here for every $20k in spending yet 10 in China for that amount so the trade deficits are huge impact on our way of life. Favored having mutual duties (20% tariffs) in all countries to encourage countries that want to sell in the country to build plants here like Japanese car manufacturers did. Thinks we're essentially selling our souls with our one-way transfers to China.
- Budget (too many social programs): Bush hasn't vetoed anything which is almost unheard of and W is big-government to the hilt. Buchanan felt we needed to be cutting federal spending.
- Iraq total mistake: Afghanistan made sense but Iraq has left us open to an endless occupation and radicalized the area, all for an unjustifiable reason. (Obviously the WMD claim was lunacy.). We could have dealt with Saddam who wasn't an actual threat to our country. Either is Syria. Disagrees with a foreign policy that basically ignores everyone but Israel.

I love well-behaved spiders! They are, in fact, how most people find my site. Unfortunately, my network has a limited bandwidth and pictures take up bandwidth. Spiders ask for lots and lots of pages and chew up lots and lots of bandwidth which slows things down considerably for regular folk. To counter this, you'll see all the text on the page but the images are being suppressed. Also, some system options like merges are being blocked for you.
Note: Permission is NOT granted for spiders, robots, etc to use the site for AI-generation purposes. I'm sure you're thrilled by your ability to make revenue from my work but there's nothing in that for my human users or for me.
If you are in fact human, please email me at guthrie.bruce@gmail.com and I can check if your designation was made in error. Given your number of hits, that's unlikely but what the hell.

- Bigger photos? To save server space, the full-sized versions of these images have either not been loaded to the server or have been removed from the server. (Only some pages are loaded with full-sized images and those usually get removed after three months.)
I still have them though. If you want me to email them to you, please send an email to guthrie.bruce@gmail.com
and I can email them to you, or, depending on the number of images, just repost the page again will the full-sized images.
