Specific picture descriptions: Photos above with "i" icons next to the bracketed sequence numbers (e.g. "[1] ") are described as follows:
AMIND_040824_022.JPG: There will be a waterfall starting here that goes along the length of the building toward the entrance on the far left.
AMIND_040824_084.JPG: Banners and such will be hung up here
AMIND_040824_095.JPG: A map of the solar system worked into the sidewalk
AMIND_040824_122.JPG: They took the concrete columns that they have to put up for security and gave them a unique Indian appearance. Large boulders are also strewn around the memorial for that purpose.
AMIND_040824_215.JPG: This is the wetland portion of the grounds. The toppled tree is deliberate since beavers and such are part of the natural landscape.
AMIND_040824_232.JPG: This is the main entrance to the building. On the sidewalk, you can see some circles with lines. We were told that represented the constellations on the day the museum was dedicated.
AMIND_040824_251.JPG: The water will come around to here before going back to the waterfall.
AMIND_040824_266.JPG: The path of the water. The steps down toward the building are for an outdoor performance area that you can only reach through the building itself.
AMIND_040824_305.JPG: Quite a few pieces of the sidewalk and walls still had to be put down
AMIND_040824_317.JPG: Native plants grow in a garden-portion of the museum landscape
AMIND_040824_331.JPG: Lots of curved walls! There aren't many right angles in the building
AMIND_040824_338.JPG: The store on the main level of the building
AMIND_040824_353.JPG: These crystals reflect the light to show different patterns on the rotunda throughout the day.
AMIND_040824_366.JPG: The front door. It's covered with a protecting coating at this point.
AMIND_040824_373.JPG: As you enter the rotunda, there's a copper wall that glides you down the ramp (on the left) toward the opening atrium. I suspect the copper will get scratched up pretty quickly.
AMIND_040824_386.JPG: There are donor walls to the left of the desk. Notice that they're part of the wall instead of being metal plates attached to it.
AMIND_040824_411.JPG: This will be the information kiosk. Above will be videos of Indians saying "Hello" in their native language with a soundtrack provided by Mickey Hart (from Grateful Dead).
AMIND_040824_432.JPG: This totem pole will be unwrapped by the opening
AMIND_040824_481.JPG: The theatre
AMIND_040824_500.JPG: The cafe will serve traditional foods. It has to break even which will be a challenge if it can't serve hot dogs and hamburgers.
AMIND_040824_565.JPG: A view of the rotunda from the fourth floor. Note the copper wall that goes much of the way around it as walkway gently slopes downward. The noise from this area may get pretty high.
AMIND_040824_584.JPG: This is the interactive learning center
AMIND_040824_600.JPG: The view from the interactive learning center. The construction on the right is the First Ladies Garden, which is part of the Botanical Gardens.
AMIND_040824_642.JPG: Even the elevators have patterns on them
AMIND_040824_657.JPG: This is the main store. Note the beads worked into the bottom shelf. Also note that the wood has an obvious grainy feel to it -- it's not the super glistening flat stuff you're used to.
AMIND_040824_827.JPG: The fill-in parts of the letters were cut but not glued in yet. I was curious how many would disappear before the opening.

Bigger photos? To save server space, the full-sized versions of these images have either not been loaded to the server or have been removed from the server. (Only some pages are loaded with full-sized images and those usually get removed after three months.)
I still have them though. If you want me to email them to you, please send an email to guthrie.bruce@gmail.com
and I can email them to you, or, depending on the number of images, just repost the page again will the full-sized images.

2004 photos: Equipment this year: I bought two Fujifilm S7000 digital cameras. While they produced excellent images, I found all of the retractable-lens Fuji models had a disturbing tendency to get dust inside the lens. Dark blurs would show up on the images and the camera had to be sent back to the shop in order to get it fixed. I returned one of the cameras when the blurs showed up in the first month. I found myself buying extended warranties on cameras.
Trips this year: (1) Margot and I went off to Scotland for a few days, my first time overseas. (2) I went to Hawaii on business (such a deal!) and extended it, spending a week in Hawaii and another in California. (3) I went to Tennessee to man a booth and extended it to go to my third Fan Fair country music festival.
Number of photos taken this year: 110,000.
