Specific picture descriptions: Photos above with "i" icons next to the bracketed sequence numbers (e.g. "[1] ") are described as follows:
NCOPEN_030927_007.JPG: No, they're not suffocating JC. This is one of the models for a marble statue.
NCOPEN_030927_027.JPG: The bottles were collected over the years by the people building the cathedral.
NCOPEN_030927_071.JPG: The guy is talking about how bell-ringing works. Notice that the bells are kept upside down. When they're played, they swing right-side-up to clang and then go back.
NCOPEN_030927_166.JPG: This is one of the guys who makes iron railings and such for the cathedral. During this twice-yearly public event, you get to see artisans doing their thing.
NCOPEN_030927_204.JPG: A quick glance at the ceiling. Note the figure in the middle. That's Moses with the tablets. A close-up follows. Sculptors have to come up with carvings for each of the sections where the arches merge.
NCOPEN_030927_223.JPG: You'll see the back of this figure (which faces a window in a stairwell that you can walk up) later.
NCOPEN_030927_252.JPG: I could be wrong but I think the grotesque of Darth Vader is on the right edge, the second line of grotesques from the top. There's a close-up coming.
NCOPEN_030927_270.JPG: The floor of glass windows after the arch is where you stand if you've gone up in the cathedral tower for a view of the city.
NCOPEN_030927_286.JPG: Periodic repairs are of course necessary
NCOPEN_030927_288.JPG: Wendy True Gasch signing her book "Guide to Gargoyles and Other Grotesques" which was first available for purchase during this event. It was billed as the first ever public guidebook on Cathedral gargoyles. Dr Gasch is an ophthalmologist and dietician/nutritionist who spent much of her life watching the stonecarvers do their thing and decided to write a book about it.

I still have them though. If you want me to email them to you, please send an email to guthrie.bruce@gmail.com
and I can email them to you, or, depending on the number of images, just repost the page again will the full-sized images.

2003 photos: Equipment this year: I decided my Epson digital camera wasn't quite enough for what I wanted. Since I already had Compact Flash chips for it, I had to find another camera which used CF chips. That brought me to buy the Fujifilm S602 Zoom in March 2003. A great digital camera, I used it exclusively for an entire year.
Trips this year: Three-week trip this year out west, mostly in Utah.
Number of photos taken this year: 68,000.
