Description of Pictures: Ceramics: Materials and Techniques
Ongoing
The refreshed galleries on 1 West’s second floor highlight ceramics from around the world—from the oldest object in the Walters’ collection to the most recent.
Juxtaposing works from different places and times, this installation explores an array of ceramic materials and techniques. It also includes a community art project, led by Baltimore ceramicist and educator Herb Massie and Jubilee Arts, that incorporates more than 200 plates made by members of the Baltimore community.
1 West Mount Vernon Place is supported by the State of Maryland, the City of Baltimore, the France-Merrick Foundation, Leo and Anna Belle Sirota, Baltimore County, Martha Ann Peters, and other generous donors.
CURATOR
Eleanor Hughes, Deputy Director of Art & Program
