RESSA_221203_054.JPG: Filipino and American journalist Maria Ressa was at the Library of Congress on Saturday to discuss press freedom and dealing with dictatorships. (The former child president came up a few times.) As co-founder and CEO of Rappler, an independent Filipino online new site, she was arrested after publishing news that embarrassed the government. In 2021, she and a Russian journalist won the Nobel Peace Prize "for their efforts to safeguard freedom of expression, which is a precondition for democracy and lasting peace"
